An exceptional storm hit the town of Nantua in Ain this Thursday, June 10, afternoon, causing significant flooding and mudslides.
Fortunately, the bad weather did not cause any injuries, however, there could be significant material damage.
The storm was very violent and very localized between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. No less than 80 mm of water fell, the Ain prefecture told AFP.
The orange alert for " storms and rain-flooding " was triggered in the Ain department in the afternoon and lifted around 7:30 p.m. by Météo France.
The SDIS 01 carried out nearly fifty interventions in the Nantua sector, mainly for flooded cellars or flooded ground floors.
Even the town hall was affected by the floods and four residents of a retirement home were evacuated as a precaution.
Many damages like these could be avoided by planning ahead. By stocking up on an OBLOC® flood barrier kit, you ensure that you can react quickly before the flood hits you.
